Act 1 of this production is set to Duke Ellington’s jazz arrangement of Tchaikovsky’s “Nutcracker Suite” and begins with a holiday party in an NYC Brownstone during the roaring ‘20s! At this party, Clara receives a mysterious magical nutcracker from her aunt—and later that night, the nutcracker transports Clara through a snowstorm to the 1822 World’s Fair in Rio de Janeiro. On December 15 and 18, the audience will watch Bulgarian Folk Dance, Chinese Fan Dance and Middle Eastern Belly Dance while on December 16 and 19 you’ll see Chinese Folk Dance, African and Haitian Dance and Bollywood Fusion. The featured performances on December 17 and 20 will be Kuchipudi Classical Indian Dance, Jamaican Dancehall and Mexican Folkloric Dance. All ages.
