Madison Square Park

4 out of 5 stars

Time Out says

This public space was a highly desirable address when it opened in 1847, and is now a verdant oasis. It hosts a series of summer concerts, including the incredibly popular Mad. Sq. Kids series, which features some of the hottest bands in kids' music. The park offers more Mad. Sq. Kids activities throughout the summer until October where kids can go on a scavenger hunt through the park at Explore!, create artistic masterpieces at Art in the Park and listen to stories at Reading Rangers. The tykes can play at the Police Officer Moira Ann Smith Playground which features sprinklers and a 15-foot waterwheel during the hot summer season. If you need a snack after all the fun, the destination is also home to Shake Shack, a summer favorite (as evidenced by the shockingly long lines) for burgers, fries and, of course, shakes.
