Visitors looking for a sneak preview into the world of artist Yayoi Kusama, the Japanese artist who's getting a full-treatment retrospective here in July, are in for a treat. Kusama's installation Fireflies on the Water, which debuted at the 2002 Whitney Biennial, turns a small room into a mini universe of sparkling points of light, reflections and seemingly infinite space with the use of mirrors, a small pool and 150 tiny lights. Timed entry rules, meaning you need to pick up tickets for a specific time at the front desk; museumgoers get just one minute inside the exhibit. Note that strollers are not allowed; visitors ages 8 and under must be accompanied by an adult; and that certain passageways within the space are not protected by side railings. All ages.
