Time Out says

A 9.0-magnitude earthquake may have shook Japan on March 11, but the international community—including New York City—have landed on their feet and quickly come to the country's aid. Japan Society is hosting a day-long marathon concert, with proceeds going to the Society's Japan Earthquake Relief fund. Featuring music performances by John Zorn, Lou Reed, Ryuichi Sakamoto and other prominent artists. The event will also include kid-friendly activities for youngsters who want to show their support for disaster victims; they'll fold origami cranes and craft washi lanterns for good wishes, learn basic Japanese to send messages of hope and try their hand at "shodo" calligraphy. All ages.
