Two extraordinary siblings—Claribel and Etta Cone—amassed a collection of approximately 3,000 works during their lifetime. Many of the pieces were purchased directly from the artists, as was the case with Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso, whom the sisters befriended during their visits to Paris in the early 1900s. Fifty-one items from their collection are on view, including masterpieces from Gauguin, Picasso, Renoir and Van Gogh, among others, and visitors can take a virtual tour of their apartments in Baltimore to see how the collectors originally displayed their treasures.
