Located at the heart of Battery Park, this national monument was originally built as a fort for the War of 1812. It later housed an opera house, immigration station and the New York City Aquarium, but is now the site where tourists board cruises to Ellis and Liberty Islands. Taking a trip to see Lady Liberty? While you're waiting you can take a self-guided tour of the surrounding Battery’s monuments and memorials, including a Revolutionary War cannon and The Immigrants, a sculpture commemorating the Immigrant Landing Depot at Castle Clinton.
