Time Out says

Named in tribute to the guy who opened the Second Avenue Deli, this little green triangle next to St. Mark’s-in-the-Bowery Church actually dates back to 1799. In addition to reminding the neighborhood about the tragic shooting of Lebewohl in 1996 while he was at a bank, the mini park is the site of a Greenmarket and a summer concert series. Abie’s old Second Avenue Deli, ironically, is now a bank.
