With record-breaking temperatures affecting our city, Montrealers are looking for the best ways to beat the heat.

Look no further than our top 5 ways to stay cool when the weather is anything but.

1. Cool off in a rooftop pool

Nothing beats a rooftop when Montreal’s mercury rises, especially when a refreshing pool’s involved.

From a sexy luxury boutique hotel pool to an indoor/outdoor swimming pool that’s heated year-round, don’t waste any time diving into these 3 rooftop pools—not to mention a slew of outstanding pools of all shapes and sizes across the city.

2. Refresh yourself at (air-conditioned) Time Out Market Montréal downtown

Did someone say refreshment? There's no better time to hit one of the six bars at Time Out Market Montreal.

Wash it all down with something from Ibéricos, the new Spanish tapas tavern at the Market.

3. Head to the beach

Montreal is an island. Take advantage of it! Whether you’ve decided to park yourself in a soft, silky lounge chair under a blue parasol at Clock Tower Beach with a cocktail in hand, or are heading to (secret) sandy shores that are further flung, there’s nothing better than the glorious beaches in and around Montreal (nudist beach included).

4. Park it under a tree

Grab a picnic—the city’s best cheap eats, or a couple of the city’s stellar hot dogs, are always a solid option—and find a cool patch of shade in one of Montreal’s gorgeous parks. It’s one of our favourite free things to do in the city, along with one of the best things to do with kids.

5. Take a hike

From urban mountains to wilderness hikes, hit the trails and explore the best of the outdoors in and outside of the city. If you’re willing to drive, there are road trips from Montreal easily done within a day or a weekend. Need the rest before your drive back? Many of the destinations are home to some of the best camping in the province.
