Following the creation of outdoor summer coworking spaces throughout the island of Montreal, Aire Commune's beachy summer project La Bronzette is officially open in the southwestern borough of Lachine and—honestly—it's glorious: A sandy relaxation area for people to grab drinks, listen to live music, rent some boats to float on the river with, and make the most of the summer. What else could you want in the 514 during the hottest time of the year?
Situated alongside the waterfront marina park of Lachine called La Brise du large, La Bronzette was announced back in May and has now come to fruition. While visitors can simply go and hang out with food and drink from the site's visiting restaurants and beverages arranged by the bar, they'll be treated with entertainment like DJs and live music if they go during opening hours. Bonus: It's dog friendly!

At the same time, you can rent watercraft like single and double kayaks, paddle boards and canoes—without a motor, but still, boats!—from a service that's supplied nearby (reservations can be made here within 14 days) as well as classes in introductory kayaking and some yoga. Rentals can cost anywhere form $10 to $30 depending on what you want to take out on the water.
There's also other stages nearby to check out, from larger-scale shows from time to time at the area's Grande Scène éphémère, concerts from the Festival de musique de Lachine, and the Festival de musique émergente (FME) will present some shows from August 6 to 8 in anticipation of their main concert in Rouyn-Noranda later this year.
Think you don't know Aire Commune? You probably do: They've been developing all kinds of projects around Montreal for several years now, from similar sandy hangout spots in the Mile End (of which they've announced to bring back in 2022) to the coworking 'islands' that have been showing up everywhere this season.
La Bronzette is located at 1800 Chemin des Iroquois, open on Thursdays and Fridays from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturdays from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Sundays from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
