From a terrasse covered in lush jungle vegetation and decor that channels Saigon in the 50’s, to a magical industrial-chic spot nestled behind a Home Depot, these hidden spots are two of the coolest, secret restaurants in the city.
Featured in a Time Out article about the coolest secret restaurants, these two eateries are among the top hidden spots in the city.
1. Terrasse Carla
Perched on the 6th floor of the unassuming Hampton Inn by Hilton, Terrace Carla is a project from The Lucky Belly Group (think Le Red Tiger and Le Blossom, to name a few).
The restaurant boasts a menu where classic French fare mingles with Vietnamese, a next-level cocktail list and seriously sick rooftop views of Old Montreal.
When it opened last summer, Terrasse Carla was one of the city’s most anticipated rooftops. This summer, we know they will continue to raise the bar.

2. Gia Vin & Grill
Tucked between an underpass and the St-Henri Home Depot, this rustic Italian restaurant—one of the best newish eateries in the city—is known for its sizzling grilled meat skewers, extensive natural wine selection, and making Uber drivers crazy.
Look for a southern entrance to a nondescript cement building—the former RCA building where stereos and recordings were made back in the day. If you find yourself in the parking lot, head back down Rue Lenoir and you’ll find the door on the left.
