Yesterday, Montreal's popular Haitian restaurant Agrikol posted on social media accounts that this weekend would mark its "last Agrikol service" and that it would be closing "for the foreseeable future".
While this likely won't be last the city sees of the team's work, it left many people wondering what's going to happen next.

"This weekend will mark the last Agrikol service for the foreseeable future. This isn’t a goodbye so much as a 'see you soon,' and we want to take the opportunity to thank you - our community - for the years of support, togetherness, and solidarity," the team wrote on Instagram and Facebook with a photo of Agrikol's general manager Ralph Destiny, chef Hans Marckley and front-of-house manager Kodjo Aokou.
"Agrikol is a special place, and the magic will be back wherever and whenever it becomes possible to celebrate together again."
Its adjoining bar Ti-Agrikol hasn't issued any statements on its social media, nor was it mentioned in the posts on Agrikol's accounts.
A contemporary of the city's dining scene legends, Agrikol was originally opened by Arcade Fire members Win Butler and Régine Chassagne along with Jen Agg, the Toronto restaurateur behind the now-closed The Black Hoof, Cocktail Bar and Rhum Corner, as well as Grey Gardens, her partner Roland Jean (Agg left associations to the restaurant behind in 2018).
But to what extent do these statements mark the end of the restaurant and bar, and what they brought to the table?
