UPDATE: the reopening of Fabre and D'Iberville stations is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Wednesday, October 9, 2024. Regarding Saint-Michel metro station, expert assessments are underway to secure the station and plan the corrective work. The next step is to design a technical solution to secure the station, procure the necessary securing equipment, and then carry out the work. At the same time, the teams are reviewing the engineering plans to plan and execute the renovations that have been going on since last March.
According to a report from the CBC, the easternmost stations of the Blue line may remain closed for weeks due to significant degradation in the main beams above a walkway at one of the stations.
Engineering teams discovered the deteriorated beam above the walkway at Saint-Michel station, and are closing two addition stations in order to access track equipment.
A shuttle bus is planned to go between Jean-Talon and Saint-Michel Metro stations, stopping at each station.
Metro staff will be at the impacted stations to help redirect commuters.
What metro stations are indefinitely closed?
Why are stations on Montreal's Blue Line closed?
"Construction work currently underway at Saint-Michel station has revealed a major deterioration of the main beams above the footbridge, resulting in the immediate closure of the station.
Given the location of the track equipment required to turn trains around in this section of the métro, Fabre and D'Iberville stations must also be closed. No trains will stop at these stations.
Although it is not possible to compensate for the capacity that the métro can support, a special shuttle bus service is in operation between Saint-Michel and Jean-Talon stations, in both directions."
