Earlier this week, Time Out released its list of the 28 coolest bars in the world for 2021—you know, the kinds of places that go above and beyond the call of mixology duty to deliver vibes, local talent and flavors you simply can't find elsewhere in the world.
Naturally, a Montreal bar has landed a spot on that list: The cocktail bar Milky Way from the Barroco Hospitality Group, the makers and cocktail shakers behind other bang-on spots like the Atwater Cocktail Club. They've nabbed the #6 spot, beating out other notable cities for bartending like New York City and London.

"They're experts at their craft, but they aren't pretentious about it. They turn out mind-blowing drinks," wrote Time Out's Global Food and Drink Editor Morgan Olsen.
Check, check, and check: Milky Way already turned heads for Canada's Best Bars in 2020, and they kept them turning throughout this post-third wave summer when all we wanted was refreshing drinks in a refreshing place. Fun and funky décor with the mixology to match, keeping things equal parts familiar and funky. The menu's always shifting, so there's plenty to keep you coming back for more, but even one peek at their menu right now reveals a fountain of creativity at work.
After a hard year and a half and counting, this Pointe-Saint-Charles watering hole is just the thing we need to get boozy (or not; the mocktails get equal attention too!) and escape the weariness we've felt over the pandemic. The struggle is real and things ain't over yet, but this is an indelibly cool spot to refuel and regroup.
Bonus: It's open seven days a week and you can order up the menu from Fugazzi downstairs. What could be more comforting than delicious cocktails and PIZZA?
Milky Way is located at 1886 Centre Street, open seven days a week from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m.
