This eco-friendly Christmas market in Montreal has a gift for everyone—without harming the planet

Today marks the first day of a week-long virtual Christmas market in Montreal where artisans and makers are given the spotlight to sell a huge variety of gift ideas for the holidays. All of products available through the event is made from scratch and few, if any, have an impact on the environment.

Running from November 30 to December 6, the organization Environnement Jeunesse (ENJEU) is hosting the Salon des artisans récupérateurs, an online holiday market where the eco-friendly creations of artisans and craftspeople from across Québec.

"The holiday season is synonymous with celebration, sharing with our loved ones and abundance. In 2020, more than ever, this time of the year can be green," reads ENJEU's release for the event. "All the finds that will be presented during the event share one thing in common: Being designed from at least 80% recycled materials. Through their creativity and ingenuity, these artisans are giving a second life to objects that have a story to tell."

There's a surprising wealth to this year's selection: Out of the wealth of fashion, cosmetics, wallets, kids' clothing, cards, prints, watches, decorations, and a lot more. 

In addition to the promotion of the vendors online, ENJEU is hosting a series of online events like panel discussions on eco-friendly purchasing with artisans, eco-responsible fashion launches, and contests that can nab you gift certificates to use on this year's line-up of shops.
