As the city recovers from the first serious winter storm of the season, a second blizzard is on its way.

A winter storm is set to hit from Sunday into Monday, bringing significant snowfall of up to 30 centimetres in some areas.

While this is great news for the ski hills, Environment Canada warns that this new snow, combined with the accumulation from earlier in the week, will cause significant weight on roofs.

Montreal should also brace for moderate to strong winds, and blowing snow.

With snow rapidly accumulating, travel may become challenging, so be prepared for quickly changing road conditions

Finally, watch out for reduced visibility in heavy snow and blowing snow.

When will the snowstorm hit Montreal?

A developing low-pressure system is heading toward Quebec this weekend, with heavy snow expected to start Sunday morning in Southern Quebec, spreading to other regions later in the day.

What was the worst snowstorm in Montreal?

A storm in December 1969 dropped 58 cm of snow in three days across the city making it the most significant snowfall event from one system.
