Brunch in Montreal's one of those common pastimes where locals get to recharge after the last night out, and—and as we like to go for a night out—brunch places as a result are a dime a dozen. That's why Café Mimosa, an address opening on September 19 on the Plateau's main strip of Saint-Laurent Boulevard, figured it needed to set itself apart from the rest.

Among the restaurant's substantial amount of telltale offerings—classic two-egg platters, breakfast poutines, cast iron casserole pans, eggs Benedict, omelettes, French toast, crepes, sandwiches, and yes, mimosas by the glass and bottle—Montrealers have the option to go all out on the 'Mftk Steak & Eggs': Three eggs will served up with a 30-day butter-aged tomahawk steak, house potatoes, grilled vegetables, cheese, three sauces and 24k edible gold. Oh, and it comes with a hat.

Sadly, images of the steak aren't ready just yet as the restaurant has only begun to prepare its steaks. They'll be ready in a month after they've been given the love and care they need to be ready, one of Café Mimosa's co-owners Christ Desjardins told Time Out Montreal during a visit to the restaurant.

Desjardins knows how to put on a show, too: His bar Bootlegger L'Authentique is a huge whisky bar that specializes in throwing parties with live music and cabarets, all in a Prohibition-era setting.

If there's one way to approach 2020 safely—but while trying to live it up as much as possible—it's by turning heads at a brunch spot by ordering up this massive platter. Maybe throw in an order for a bottle of Veuve Clicquot with a side of orange juice while you're at it.

Café Mimosa is located at 3509 Boulevard St-Laurent, and is opening on September 19. Reservations can be made here.
