Montreal’s giant Korean street food festival is back with catchy K-pop and more

27 culinary booths, 25 exhibitors, and over 10 cultural activities to discover!

One of Montreal’s favourite festivals is back and better than ever.

POCHA MTL, a gigantic event where street food meets cultural festival, attracts over 20,000 fans every year.

Held in Griffintown at Hangar 1825, visitors should get ready to dig into street food favourites like fried chicken, bibimbap and Korean tacos served up by guest chefs from South Korea.

Bringing local businesses and performers together, this community-oriented event is also famous for its catchy K-pop tunes, dance troops and breakout sessions.

Don’t  miss the famous tteokbokki (spicy stir-fried rice cakes), kogos (a popular version of Korean-style pogo), dak kochi (chicken skewers) and jap chae (Korean noodles, vegetarian option available).

Save room for cupbap (pork/bulgogi/chicken), TK-aco (pork, bulgogi/chicken), buttered calamari (Korean-style honey butter), pancakes (kimchi/seafood with chives), kimchi fries, and the kimchi poutine.

Head down to Hangar 1825 from August 8 to August 11, 2024 to experience POCHA MTL. The hours are: 

Thursday, August 8: 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Friday, August 9: 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Saturday, August 10: 12 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Sunday, August 11: 12 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

When are the K-pop performances at POCHA MTL?

Don’t miss these key performances:

Thursday 6-7 p.m. (opening performances); Saturday at 3pm (East2west: performances and random dance play); Saturday 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. (DJ Ka Wai; Bias, New York), Saturday 10 p.m. to 3 p.m. (KPOP Post-POCHA evening at 257 St-Ferdinand) and Sunday 3 p.m. (2ksquad: performances and random dance play)

What is POCHA MTL?

POCHA MTL Korean Market is a celebration of street food, merchants and music over 4 days. It’s also a cultural exchange, bringing together enthusiasts at the Lachine Canal National Historic Site.
