It’s official: Montreal is home to the best new restaurant in the country.
According to the annual coveted list by Air Canada’s enRoute magazine, this intimate spot is helmed by the chef of the shuttered Patrice Pâtissier—one of our favourite patisseries in the city—and his partner, a renowned sommelier.
Nestled in Pointe-Saint-Charles, a few steps from Saint-Henri (recently crowned one of the coolest neighbourhoods in the world), this new eatery is small on space but big on taste.
It's no wonder Montreal was ranked one of the best cities for food on the planet.
What is the number one restaurant in Canada for 2024?
Located on Centre Street in Pointe-Saint-Charles, Sabayon is a reservation-only, jewel box of a restaurant created by Patrice Demers and Marie-Josée Beaudoin.
The intimate spot seats just 14 guests, and the seasonal menu, crafted in collaboration with local producers, offers three experiences: an evening tasting menu, cooking classes, and tea time.
The thoughtfully curated wine list features private imports, small producers, and Québec selections.
What are the best dishes to try at Sabayon?
The tasting menu is a surprise, however the grilled oyster mushrooms capped with a caramelized arlette (thinly baked until golden puff pastry) in a cloud of sabayon sauce.
Time Out tip: Reservations for January, 2025, will be available starting Wednesday, December 4 at 12 p.m.
