After ongoing delays since the record-breaking snowstorms, the REM announced service isn’t meeting expectations and will be free until further notice.

During the week of February 24 to 28, 2025, users can access the REM and the special shuttle buses all day, at no charge.

The REM will offer service only during morning peak hours (5:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.) and evening peak hours (3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.).

REM trains will run every 10 minutes during these time slots.

Outside these hours, the network will be closed.

Shuttles will be available at all times to facilitate travel, and support teams will be deployed in the network and on trains to assist users during this period of instability.

The REM website states:

“Due to the unacceptable service provided by the REM operator in recent weeks, starting Monday, February 24, measures affecting schedules and pricing will be implemented to offer more predictability and ease to users. The current operations are not meeting our expectations, and the teams are working tirelessly to restore quality service.”

Access to the REM and shuttle buses 720, 721, 722, and 568 will be free under an agreement between CDPQ Infra and ARTM, while other public transit services will maintain regular fares.

REM users with a monthly pass will receive a renewal credit, with details announced by mid-March.

Shuttle buses from RTL and STM will operate at all times—supporting the REM during peak hours and replacing it when closed—to connect the South Shore and downtown.

Service reductions allow for increased maintenance, including switch modifications for winter conditions.

More intervention agents will be deployed to improve communication and provide on-site assistance as needed.

Measures will be reviewed weekly based on service stability.
