Canada swept the World’s Best Cities list, deemed as one of the planet’s most thorough annual city rankings, with Montreal firmly in the mix.
Home to one of the best hotels in the world, and the top best new restaurant in the country—not to mention being recently ranked as one of the best cities for food on the globe—it’s no surprise that Montreal made the list.
Combining core data from more than 400 global cities, plus resident and visitor perception indicators like user-generated ratings and reviews, global place branding advisor Resonance
Resonance Consultancy ranked the World's Best Cities for 2025 by analyzing metropolitan areas with populations over 1 million, using data from sources like Google, Tripadvisor, and Instagram.
They created a score based on factors that influence a city's appeal for residents, visitors, and businesses.
Metrics such as airport connectivity, Fortune 500 companies, nightlife, affordability, and healthcare were included, while weather and safety were excluded to better reflect current drivers of urban success.
The ranking combines performance metrics across three pillars—Livability, Lovability, and Prosperity—with survey data from 22,000 respondents in 30 countries.
Participants identified cities they’d most like to live in, visit, or work in, ensuring the list reflects both statistical and perception-based insights.
Three Canadian cities appeared on this coveted list: Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver.
With all of the magical things happening in Montreal right now, from the twinkling Christmas lights on every corner to the festive music emanating from the holiday markets, there’s no better time to experience all the things to do in the city.
