It’s official: the world champion of Neapolitan pizza is in Montréal.
Pizzaiolo Mirko D’Agata, executive chef of Pizzerias No.900 and Morso, has won the prestigious title of world pizza champion.
Stealing the show in the Neapolitan Pizza category at the International Pizza Challenge in Las Vegas (where the best pizzaiolos in the world go to compete), Chef Mirko D’Agata was one of five chefs who advanced to the final.
Spoiler alert: the chef’s marinara pizza was the slice that won over the judges, earning him the coveted first place.

And there was more Québec representation: Pizzaiolo Simon Melki from the Pizzerias No.900 Monkland branch, and his colleague Samuel Goddard Gauthier (No.900 in Bromont), placed 22nd and 10th in the Pan Pizza and Non-Traditional categories, respectively.
Fiodar Huminski, also of Pizzerias No.900 and Morso, won bronze in the Traditional American category.
Time Out Tip: to celebrate the big win, Pizzerias No.900 is sending out SMS messages that entitle guests to a complimentary l’entrée apérativo—valid until April 1, 2025.
When it comes to pizza in Montreal, from al taglio and Neapolitan to New York and Detroit, the best pizza in the city has every style covered.
