This weekend marks the first of three weekends for Verdun's annual Festival Marionnettes Plein la rue, combining larger-than-life marionette performance pop-ups all along the neighbourhood's main strip of Wellington and free fixed shows for kids to check out, so long as you nab your reserved spots!
In order to keep things safe, the biggest performances of them all will happen along Wellington without any announcement on Fridays and Saturdays (weahter permitting), and past years have included puppets as big as 10 feet tall—you probably won't be able to miss them.
For the ticketed shows that happen during the weekend, you can grab a spot by visiting the festival's website. Tickets will be available online the Wednesday before each performance.

On top of the huge variety of restaurants and bars to check, this is one of the things to do in Verdun that regularly tops our lists. Head out to the area on Fridays and Saturdays from August 20th to September 4th and see if you can catch a sight of a huge puppet walking the streets! Finally, there's going to be a closing show at Verdun cultural center Quai 5160 on September 11, 2021 if you're craving some seated shows.
