A lot of the things Montrealers love to do have had to adapt to the pandemic in ways that just don't feel the same; online festivals, virtual gallery exhibitions and hanging out virtually just don't feel the same. One thing we all knew wouldn't drastically change—if and when it could come back—would be sitting down in a bar or at home and watching a game of hockey.
Now we can.
The Montreal Canadiens are hitting the ice once again tonight at 8pm EST against the Toronto Maple Leafs, and that'll be broadcasted into our homes and the best sports bars in Montreal.

Following a hiatus that lasted months—138 days, to be precise—the Habs will be playing in Toronto tonight. It's all part of a series of exhibition matches that will be followed by games against the Pittsburgh Penguins on August 1, 3, 5, 7 and 8, all at 8PM EST.
Hockey fans won't recognize the game, however, as players will be skating through an arena devoid of fans. It feels all the more strange knowing that the Stanley Cup Playoffs aren't supposed to be far off.
If you're one of the many, many Montrealers or Torontonians (or Canadiens in general) who have been waiting to watch a good game of hockey rivalry play out, you can watch the game go down in English on Sportsnet One or in French on TVA Sports.
While teams have swapped out a few players here and there, you can expect that the regional representation ought to fuel some serious on-ice action.
