This speakeasy-style bar tucked away in Montreal’s Little Burgundy neighbourhood is making headlines.
The North America’s 50 Best Bars 2023 ranking—revealed at a live awards ceremony in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico on Thursday May 4—reflects the best bars across the continent.
Atwater Cocktail Club, one of the city’s most beloved hidden bars part of the Montreal-based hospitality group Groupe Barroco, is located behind Foiegwa and off an unassuming alleyway next to Atwater Ave., one of Montreal’s busiest downtown streets.
When Foiegwa, a renovated diner known for their epic brunches, opened up, it caught the attention of many Montrealers. But the long queues are actually in the alleyway behind it.
Expect moody lighting, understated luxury and killer cocktails focused on using only the highest quality ingredients, house-made syrups and handpicked spirits.
We’re talking about a French disco-themed bar with an exceptional collection of booze, which becomes even more impressive when you taste the cocktails inspired by Director of Beverage and Education, Kate Boushel.
Atwater Cocktail Club is known for experimenting with their drinks, and they are not afraid to be bold. However, getting a seat can be a wild experience.
There’s nothing more satisfying than discovering a hidden restaurant or the city’s newest secret bar (hello, Motel Motel), so if you haven’t been to Atwater Cocktail Club, head there now.
