Sometimes you spend so much time in your own neighbourhood throughout a pandemic that you miss a couple restaurant openings in Montreal, no matter how awesome they are.
That definitely applies to us here at Time Out when it comes to Resto-Bar Le Pick-Up. Having started up back in May, the restaurant is one of the latest arrivals in Hochelaga and appropriately fitted out to cater to the COVID realities all restaurants are facing.
The restaurant, formed through a collaboration between the sandwich-forward casse-croûte Dépanneur Le Pick-Up and the popular summer season terrasse destination Bar Alexandraplatz, is set up to do only takeout and dining on its street terrasse out front.

Built out of an old Belle Province location, the menu is largely made up from Le Pick-Up's original wheelhouse of salads, fries, and sandwiches like the pulled pork both carnivorous and vegetarian—plus some new additions like pork belly in a pineapple sambal or a fried chicken sandwich—alongside some curated booze selections from Alexandraplatz, so expect a lot of refreshing wines.

Most notably, Resto-Bar Le Pick-Up is jumping into the picnic game with two picnic boxes to buy at $14 a pop: The 'Poulet Piknique' which comes with two pieces of fried chicken, garlic fries, a cabbage salad and a side bread (natch), and the 'Végé "Poulet" Piknique' with fried cauliflower (pictured above) and the same fixings as the other box.
The restaurant's also sporting new specials on the regular like donuts and cookies, so it easily merits repeat visits.
Here's to a good bouffe this summer, Montreal.
Resto-Bar Le Pick-Up is located at 3739 Ontario Est, a few blocks from Joliette metro, open Wednesday to Saturday 4pm to 8pm.
