It’s official: Four Montreal restaurants have been ranked the best on the planet.
The La Liste ranking, recognizing the World’s Best Restaurants in 2025, rounds up the most outstanding establishments on the planet.
Four of Montreal’s best restaurants made the list, and are being celebrated for their culinary excellence on a global scale.
While we wait for the Michelin Guide to come to Québec, La Liste is the largest selection in the world of restaurants, patisseries, and hotels for food lovers and international travelers.
How does La Liste work?
A comprehensive database compiles reviews of the world's best restaurants and hotels from over 1,000 guidebooks and reputable publications.
Each review score is standardized on a scale from 0 to 100 using specific conversion tables tailored to each guidebook.
Thousands of chefs contribute their opinions on local guidebooks, resulting in a "trustworthiness index" for each source, ranked from 0 (unreliable) to 10 (highly reliable).
For every restaurant and hotel listed, an average score is calculated, factoring in the trustworthiness index of each source.
Additionally, online customer reviews are incorporated, with a 10% weighting in the overall "La Liste score."
All establishments in the database are ranked based on their final score, offering a reliable guide for discerning travelers and food enthusiasts.
In short, if you made the list, you know it’s major.
What Montreal restaurants were ranked best in the world?
The four Montreal restaurants that made this prestigious list are:
1. Mon Vin Lapin
A culinary symphony led by chefs Marc-Olivier Frappier and Jessica Noël, showcasing innovative dishes like crispy scallop croque, gnudi-rabiole with chanterelles, and Kamouraska smoked eel carbonara. Their vegetable creations are equally inventive, reflecting their roots at Joe Beef and Vin Papillon. With exceptional service, a standout wine list, and surprises curated by sommelier Vanya, this is a must-visit for refined dining and adventurous palates.
2. Toqué
Toqué! stands as a cornerstone of Montreal’s reputation as a North American culinary destination. Dining at chef Normand Laprise’s acclaimed establishment offers a masterclass in refinement, unmatched technique, and impeccable service. The ultra-local ingredients, elevated by flawlessly executed French techniques, make the tasting menu a must-try experience that promises no regrets.
3. Joe Beef
This renowned culinary destination serves ultra-gourmet, masterful dishes with bold flavours that pay homage to classic French cuisine. Known for its exceptional meat and seafood offerings, it’s a place where abundance takes center stage, making every experience memorable. From the famous lobster spaghetti to prime rib and Burgundy snails, each dish is an indulgent celebration of high-end dining. And, of course, the wine list is as impressive as the food itself.
4. Le Mousso
When Antonin Mousseau-Rivard and Katerine Mousseau launched their tasting menu restaurant in early 2015, they grabbed attention for two reasons: the boldness of focusing solely on a tasting menu, and the fact that it succeeded. Mousseau-Rivard quickly earned recognition as a prodigy and artist, blending comfort with innovation in dishes that feel both familiar and groundbreaking. This restaurant is a prime example of how Nordic influences can be combined with Québécois flavors to create something truly unique. For a full tasting experience that averages 12 courses. If you prefer a lighter option, try the à la carte menu at the nearby Le Petit Mousso.
