The Montreal-born food festival Le Burger Week is just around the corner, and it's a bigger deal than ever this time around: Marking its 10th anniversary, the event will be lasting two weeks instead of one, stretching from September 1 to September 14.
That's a big deal for what started with only a handful of restaurants in Montreal back in 2011. This year? Le Burger Week reports that over 700 restaurants across Canada are participating, and that officially makes this the largest burger event ein the country. In Montreal alone there are over 75 participating restaurants (a total of 83 at the time of this article), and more than 165 participating restaurants across the province of Quebec.
Burger road trip, anyone?
The full list can be found on the website here.
All kinds of options will be on the table, but particular shout-outs go to:
- The Hangover Burger from La Belle et La Boeuf (two 5 oz patties, Cheddar cheese, 6 pancakes, mango and strawberry salsa, honey syrup & butter)
- The Bacon + Bacon + Bacon from Chez Simon Cantine Urbaine (a double smash burger with patties that are 75% beef and 25% bacon), homemade mustard sauce, grilled Canadian bacon, bacon jam, and American cheese on potato roll)
- The SAIKOU from Deville Dinerbar (a Japanese 7oz. A5 Miyazaki Wagyu burger seasoned with sel gris, topped with Quebec’s award winning Raclette de Compton cheese, red onion marmalade, arugula, spicy umami aioli on a artisanal brioche bun)
- The CrabCake and Beef Burger from Le Gras Dur (Brioche bread, AAA Angus Beef ,fried Crab Cake,Homemade Tartare Sauce, coleslaw and lettuce)
- The Sea burger from Seasalt (A homemade Crab cake and butter poached lobster tail under some fried calamari, served with red cabbage slaw and house remoulade, on a potato bun)
- The GPP Burger from Gentile Pizza Parlour (GPP Burger 4 oz. Aged Chuck Beef, Potato Roll, Boston Leaf Lettuce, Aged Cheddar Cheese, Sweet Tomato Relish, Caramlized Onions, Parlour Mayo, Thin Sliced Pickle)
As always, the festival is continuing its mission of supporting local restaurants by increasing sales and aware through participation. In past interviews, Le Burger Week's co-founder Na’eem Adams has said that restaurants who have made a menu offering for the beefy festivities have consistently asked to do it more than once a year, or to have it be longer than just a week.
The last year and half's shift to delivery has been far from hurtful to the festival's development as well; orders have only climbed on third-party delivery apps. This year's edition officially has DoorDash as a sponsor, so expect some deals on the app when the festival starts.
Happy artery clogging, Montreal!
