Brace for some serious female empowerment. Womanish—a traveling exhibition created by women for women—descends on Wynwood this summer. There are 16 different immersive rooms in the expansive 5,000-square-foot space, each one dedicated to a different “ish” factor of womanhood, featuring vibrant murals and thought-provoking installations. There’s “Consumerish,” which explores the impact of the pink tax, and “Selfish,” where ladies can indulge in a little self-care, and several other hyper-sensory areas designed to resonate and inspire deeper conversations. “Beyond the Instagrammable content, Womanish is bringing awareness to important womxn issues in our exhibit, such as the pink tax, mental health, the gender pay gap and much more,” says co-founder Danyelle Gray, who created the exhibit with her sister Dionna and creative director Emily Dahlquist. The founders are all black women from Chicago, who sought to bring a different perspective to the female experience while making it fun, and of course, Instagrammable. For a small fee, visitors can rent a Polaroid camera to snap shots the old-school way.
