As Oolite Arts’ printmaking resident, textile designer, artist and instructor Nick Mahshie brings his knowledge of contemporary print practices to the public by leading workshops and hosting open studio hours. In this fast-paced, one-day workshop, students will bring a bold black and white drawing, high-contrast photo or digital design to life on a tote bag, denim jacket or other fabric. Learn the basics of screen printing by watching as Mahshie demonstrates coating, burning and printing a screen. Then apply these skills in preparing and printing your own designs. You’ll leave class with a base knowledge of the screen printing process and the ability to return to the print shop during open hours to continue honing your skills.
