Jamaican-American performance artist, Shamar Watt, draws inspiration from his own Maroon heritage with a screening of a new cinematic work by Jamaican based filmmaker, Nile Saulter, as well as live performances featuring multiple dancers and percussionist, Austin Williamson. Watt reimagines his Maroon roots as a cosmic garden, intertwining cosmic phenomena—like black holes—with the perception of the black body and spirit. The works incorporate music, film and dance into one extraordinary performance blending maroon, krump and rave aesthetics with scientific theories around behaviors of the invisible energy that governs life.
