What do you do with your summer whites after Labor Day? You save them for spring and the annual Dîner en Blanc, a glamorous picnic where every single attendee is decked in their finest alabaster threads. The fifth installment of the international soirée—which has popped up locally at the New World Center, Palm Court and the former Herald Plaza site—follows the same strict rules as years prior: every person must sign up in advance online and tote their own tables, chairs, picnic meals, fine china (no plastic or paper allowed!) and tablescape. Music, entertainment and flowing booze (available for purchase) are provided. Party details are kept secret until minutes before the event, as guests are asked to meet at five designated points across the city. If it all sounds like one big Hollywood-style escapade, it’s because it is. But we promise it will be fun.
