Throughout February, Marcus Samuelsson's acclaimed Red Rooster Overtown will present weekly culinary specials curated in celebration of Black History Month. Exploring the culinary diaspora created through the forced migration of Africans to the Americas, the restaurant has programmed a different menu each week inspired by the food traditions of Africa via the transatlantic slave route. The journey takes off in West and Central Africa, followed by the Caribbean, New Orleans and the South Carolina/Georgia Lowcountry. Expect traditional dishes packed with flavor and spice, like goat and chicken jollof rice, seafood gumbo and Carolina-style smoked pulled whole hog.
