Art Deco, coastal flooding and Toni’s Sushi Bar—South Beach, in its ever-changing form, does have its share of constants. The neighborhood’s first Japanese restaurant continues to churn out top-notch sushi in the same trendy, Oriental-style digs (complete with sunken seating) where it debuted in 1987. There’s no posturing or high prices, Toni’s servers are friendly and always eager to guide you through the extended menu of classic Japanese fare as well as modern interpretations, like ceviche and tiradito. You can’t go wrong with Toni’s choice, a single or double serving of fresh sushi and sashimi artfully arranged atop a bamboo boat.
