It’s not hard to guess what type of food La Placita serves. Its building wears a massive mural of the Puerto Rican flag, loud and proud, in Miami’s MiMo neighborhood. That’s because La Placita comes from chef Jose Mendin, an equally loud and proud Puerto Rican who is known for blending traditional flavors with innovative ideas. La Placita adds to Mendin’s Miami portfolio (which includes Pubbelly Sushi, Pubbelly Noodle Bar and Habitat) and sees the chef tackling many of the classics from his homeland: lechón asado, bacalaítos and mofongo out the wazoo. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating and will serve lunch and dinner.
