Trendy beachfront restaurant Gitano—one of Tulum’s many calls to fame—brings its tropical, hippy vibes to the glamorous Faena District. The third location for the Mexico-based spot (the second is in New York City) conjures the Yucatán coastline with lots of greenery, hanging foliage and thatched details spread across its two separate areas inside Casa Faena: a full dining room on the ground floor and a covered rooftop bar, where national landscaping firm Manscapers placed a colorful garden installation.
While it might look a little different, Miami’s Gitano faithfully follows the original as far as food and drink are concerned. The menu is still largely modern Mexican fare with a focus on wholesome ingredients and healthy preparations. A grilled avocado drizzled with ponzu and sprinkled with worm salt and a fish of the day baked in a banana leaf are among the Gitano classics available in the 305. Expect the mezcal and tequila to flow from both bars, featuring seasonal cocktails spiked with Mexican spirits and flavored with fresh herbs from the gardens.
