Like the idea of eating on the beach but hate the sand, seagulls and omnipresent threat of ornery crabs? The Beach Bar at Newport Pier offers a happy compromise. Dine mere feet from the waves without ever touching the sand. Now, just because this is on the water, don’t think this is South Beach. Newport Pier is 10 miles away from Lincoln Road. But if you’re in the area (perhaps commuting from Broward), Beach Bar is a nice pitstop and offers a sophisticated yet casual ambiance. The menu isn’t cheap, but is definitely seaside-appropriate: Mahi Mahi tacos ($17), ceviche ($17), lobster rolls ($28) and more.
