The swanky South of Fifth neighborhood could certainly stand in for the Amalfi as far as price is concerned, and now it’s making a case for its food with the opening of Amare. The glamorous indoor/outdoor restaurant serves southern Italian fare in an expansive modern setting. Small plates are priced in the affordable $7 to $15 range, but mains will set you back quite considerably more—think $36 lobster spaghetti and salted branzino to share for $44. Though when money is no object, you can languish over an expensive—albeit delicious—plate a pasta without a care in the world.
