One of our favorite Miami karaoke nights is taking its talents to the internet. The weekly party at Gramps, affectionately coined “karaoke for music nerds,” will kick off its live-streamed incarnation tonight at 9pm.
Longtime Let’s Sang organizer Oly Virago remains at the helm, masterfully coordinating an evening for crooners from Miami and beyond to come together to share their heartache, woes and hopes through the poignant medium of song.
To participate, you’ll need two devices on hand and ready to go: a laptop and a smartphone (or tablet, etc). Here’s how the night will work:
1. Pick your karaoke song from YouTube. (Stumped? DM Let’s Sang for some fun, quarantine-themed suggestions!)
2. Send Let’s Sang the link via Instagram DM
3. Log on to the Let’s Sang live story tonight, Monday, March 23 at 9pm EST
4. When it’s your turn, Let’s Sang will add you to its live story and the two of you will press play on your song at the same time (make sure you’re queued up to the beginning of your song, after any commercials, on your computer/laptop/secondary device)
5. Let’s Sang will mute their audio and display your lyrics on its Instagram Live feed
6. You sang into your phone!
Sound a tad complicated? No worries! Everyone’s in the same boat as you troubleshooting this new thing we call #lockdownlife. And if you’re in a giving mood, do remember to tip your emcee. Our Miami nightlife heroes need all the support they can get right now.
