In today's odd but intriguing culinary news: celebrity chef Donatella Arpaia—yes, the meatball queen—will be unveiling an extravagant meatball tower drenched in gold at her Coral Gables restaurant NOMA Beach on March 9, National Meatball Day.

The eclectic treat will be available at the eatery throughout the month of March for $200 a pop. We're honestly not sure if that's a great deal or not but... bonus points for creativity?

The tower will be comprised of nine meatballs in total, each one slow-cooked in Arpaia's famous ragú sauce and then served atop a bed of Galbani mozzarella. The concoction will then be crowned with shaved truffles and edible gold: a fest for kings, indeed.

Just in case you're more into traditional culinary excursions, keep in mind that the chef's award-winning beef and veal meatballs will still be available in classic form (ragú, ticotta salata and fresh basil) at the restaurant for its regular price of $35 throughout the month.

All jokes aside, Arpaia clearly knows her way around the dish: the restaurateur, Food Network personality and cookbook author opened Greek restaurant Kefi in Manhattan back in 2007. Although the eatery has since closed, the meatballs served there were consistently named the very best in the city.

Just one piece of advice: if you're going to indulge in the golden truffle creation, perhaps don't eat anything else all day long to leave room for all that gastronomic richness? As they say in Italy: buon appetito!
