News of a new rooftop bar opening is few and far between these days, but once in awhile life surprises us.
After temporarily shutting down for weeks, award-winning bar/restaurant Beaker & Gray is setting up shop at the Citadel’s sprawling rooftop for a one-month stint starting August 8. Beverage director Ben Potts is behind the pop-up, which will feature a selection of Beaker’s most notable cocktails plus a slew of refreshing, tropical drinks to match the space’s balmy, vacation vibes. The Bombay Sapphire gin-based Bomb-Bae with camomille-infused Martini Ambrato and a Maduro Fashioned flavored with a sweet-plantain reduction are among the new tipples to try. Two unnamed frozen drinks will also grace the menu, honing in the pop-up’s island feel.
It’s only Beaker’s bar program that’s popping up at the Citadel, though dishes from any of the food hall’s eight, ground-level eateries can be ordered to enjoy upstairs. Plans for programming are in the works, including Wednesday wine nights and weekend brunch.
Beaker & Gray at the Citadel will open Wednesday through Friday from 4pm to 10pm and Saturday and Sunday from noon to 10pm (or 11pm, weather permitting). We realize scorching-hot August is possibly the worst month to drink outside but after so many weeks of being cooped up, there’s no point in letting a little sweat (and maybe some rain) get in the way of your outdoor drinking plans.
