This Miami Vietnamese spot was just named one of the best new restaurants in the U.S.

Bon Appétit just dropped its annual list of the 20 best new restaurants in the United States, and Tâm Tâm in Downtown Miami has made the cut. It’s the only Florida restaurant to do so, and a pretty big accomplishment, especially when you consider how tightly curated the lineup is.

Tâm Tâm has been on our radar since its fledgling days as a roaming pop-up and quickly climbed toward the top of our own list of the best restaurants in Miami since opening its brick-and-mortar location last summer. The restaurant also earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand award earlier this year.

“Chef Tam Pham and his husband, sommelier Harrison Ramhofer, have created a funky diner vibe that extends to a bathroom equipped with a hidden karaoke machine,” reads the review from BA. “Outside, patrons chill on colorful plastic stools drinking natural wine, while in the dining room they lounge on floral vinyl banquettes and order off a menu that’s Vietnamese with a hint of Miami flair.”

The writeup goes on to highlight signature Tâm Tâm dishes, like the goat curry “bathed in chili oil and served with Chinese egg noodles and a flurry of herbs,” tangy and fragrant Key West shrimp crudo and peppery, shareable lamb wraps. 

“What I wanted to incorporate into the menu were things I ate growing up and loved,” Pham told us. “I wanted everyone to have the same experience.”

Other major American foodie cities like Houston, Austin and Boston failed to garner any recognition from the culinary magazine this year, and NYC only claimed one spot on the list. Check out which other American restaurants graced the list below.
