Congratulations are in order for Kush Hospitality! The restaurant group behind a slew of Miami favorites, including Kush Wynwood and Kush at Time Out Market Miami, took home the People’s Choice Award at the 2021 Burger Bash, part of the 20th-anniversary edition of the South Beach Wine and Food Festival. Talk about an honor!

More than 30 chefs and restaurants from around the country competed in this year’s event, which was broken up into two sessions for guests’ safety. Kush Hialeah participated in the first, slinging its signature Miami-style frita for the hungry crowds. The burger is Kush’s take on the Cuban slider, made with an all-beef patty (rather than the classic chorizo/pork mix) that’s topped with swiss cheese, bacon, potato stix, guava jelly and LoKal’s sauce (a KHG staple). It’s not traditional but that’s exactly what the people want, according to Friday’s results.

Gotham Burger Social Club from West Palm Beach won the People’s Choice Award at the second session (along with $5,000 just as Kush did), so congratulations are in order for them as well. Though as far as winners are concerned, we’ve got all eyes on the local favorite. Missed the festival this year? The frita burger is available at all Kush locations so you can judge this tasty, prize-winning creation for yourself.
