Well, at least we know why it hasn’t stopped raining in days. Tropical Storm Elsa is just mere days away from possibly impacting Miami.
The National Hurricane Center reports that the season’s third named storm is tracking a path toward South Florida, moving rapidly northwestward. The speedy pace bodes well as it’ll, hopefully, keep it from strengthening.
Currently, tropical storm warnings are in effect for Barbados, Martinique, St. Lucia, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The impact on South Florida is still uncertain but we are within the cone of uncertainty. Some weather models have Elsa steadily moving east toward us while others predict she'll turn toward the Gulf of Mexico and miss Florida altogether.
Whichever way she goes, South Floridians should brace for possible storm surge, wind and heavy rainfall early next week, the National Hurricane Center warns. Now might be a good time to make sure your hurricane preparations (and your booze) are in order.
