Forget the haters: When Miamians and New Yorkers come together in harmony, they can create truly beautiful things. Take, for instance, this new ice cream sandwich collaboration between two of the cities’ trendiest purveyors of delicious treats.

Miami Shores’ sustainable soft serve ice cream shop, Peel, and the NYC-imported chain of French bakeries, Maman, have linked up to send off summer the best way they know how: with a limited-edition dessert. The ice cream sandwich is comprised of two of Maman’s famed nutty chocolate chip cookies stuffed with Peel’s signature banana soft serve.

Much like summer, the ice cream sandwiches are fleeting: You can only purchase them for two days, on Friday, August 23 and Saturday, August 24 at Maman’s new Sunset Harbour location at 1874 Bay Road in Miami Beach. Look for the colorful, banana-covered Peel pop-up truck out front, where you can order the specialty ice cream sandwich along with their banana soft serve.

“After hours of sampling and recipe testing with all of our different cookies and soft serve variations, we realized that our favorite contender was the distinct flavors that made us who we are today,” says Maman’s founder, Elisa Marshall, who met Peel’s Valeria Alvarez at a conference a few months ago.

“Making an ice cream sandwich together was a no-brainer and we had such a blast testing our options,” says Alvarez. “Maybe too much fun, because who doesn't love soft serve and cookies?”

Peel will pop up at Maman Sunset Harbour from noon to 6pm this Friday and Saturday. The ice cream sandwich costs $9, with a percent of sales benefiting Food Rescue US South Florida, which will also be donating all leftover waste from Maman to local shelters in the area such as Lotus House.
