Miami is a flash-in-the-pan city with blink-and-you’ll-miss-them restaurants and limited engagements that leave town faster than it takes you to cross the MacArthur Causeway during rush hour. Rarely do the pop-ups find their way back, though we do get lucky sometimes.
Next month marks the return of Hidden Worlds, last spring’s popular, marine-themed dinner experience that took place in South Beach. This winter, the immersive event moves to Amerpsand Studios in Edgewater and teams up with the Islands of the Bahamas to present Our Ocean, Our Future. Billed for enjoyment and education, Hidden Worlds endeavors to bring awareness to marine conservation while serving an ocean-positive menu.
Hidden Worlds’ executive chef Scott Linquist (Coyo Taco, Serena Rooftop) and Bahamian executive chef Kevyn Pratt (previously of Baha Mar) planned a Bahamian-inspired, multicourse dinner served alongside marine-themed cocktails by Bahamian mixologist Marv “Mr. Mix Cunningham.” Art installations by muralist Angelika Wallace-Whitfield and A.I. artist Seyhan Lee as well as underwater projections of oceans and mangroves surround diners as they tuck into dish after dish of Caribbean delights.
Hidden Worlds offers two dinner seatings Wednesday through Sunday, at 6pm and 8:30pm, and tickets are $240 per person, with a portion of the proceeds benefitting the conservation nonprofit Beneath the Waves. Not in it for the food? Families can visit daily from noon to 5pm (admission is $29 per adult and $19 per child) and explore the art installations, including Lee's coral experience, and the underwater visuals.
