What’s the best restaurant in Kendall?
Ysset Boan of @fulanathafoodie couldn’t pick just one Kendall restaurant. Here, she dishes on her favorite neighborhood gems.
Amelia’s 1931 (13601 SW 26th St)
“From the team behind Finka and the famous Cuban culinary family behind Islas Canarias, Amelia’s 1931 is a cute little spot. Perfect for a lunch meeting or date night, though it’s pretty far south in Kendall. La Timba is my favorite dessert—it has tons of guava flavor.”
Gauchos Gourmet Market (14291 SW 42nd St)
“Here’s another shopping center find. This place has an amazing market with great wine from Italy and Argentina. Sit for a while and order a tabla and a glass of wine, and get a few made-from-scratch empanadas to-go.”
Osteria Vecchio Piemonte (10480 SW 72nd St)
“You’ll be transported to Rome at this adorable little gem. This lovely little restaurant, also in a shopping center, has been one of the best Italian meals I’ve had since my trip to Italy last year. Amazing service, beyond delicious food from start to finish and it’s very romantic. The intimate setting is perfect for a date night. Make a reservation as they do get busy, but you’ll get complimentary prosecco while you wait for a table.”
Amici’s Trattoria Italiana (10201 Hammocks Blvd)
“This family-owned place is a fave among locals. In middle school, I used to wait for Friday to come just so I could eat their amazing pizza. It’s comfort food done right: hearty pasta dishes, pizza by the slice and the best garlic rolls.”
