Amazon, perhaps our one constant during lockdown, is making its presence even more permanent very soon: The mega online retailer just announced the opening of Miami’s first Amazon 4-Star store.
Only one of three locations opening in Florida, the outpost will open at 700 Lincoln Road in South Beach—the former site of the buzzy restaurant Nexxt Café. The massive shop—taking up approximately 5,000 square feet (about the size of a standard basketball court)—will be filled with a curated selection of Amazon products rated four stars and above (hence the name). From toys and electronics to games and housewares, the company’s most popular products will be available to shop IRL. No more waiting for packages to arrive or inconvenient trips to UPS to make a return. All of your Amazon buying can now be done in person.
Though no opening date has been announced yet, the location has been empty for a while and windows covered up, signaling the start of something new going on inside. It’s also the start of more to come at the outdoor mall, which this year is set to welcome a slew of fresh tenants—including Harry’s Pizzeria by James Beard Award winner Michael Schwartz and Showfields, an experiential retailer that opened its only other location in New York City’s Bond St. in 2018.
Now, if you’ll excuse us, we’ve got an Amazon cart to update.
