As restaurants in Miami continue pivoting with new delivery models and expanded outdoor spaces, there are a handful of nimble spots that have turned into pop-ups. Some are helmed by home chefs while others are new iterations of existing concepts that can only thrive in different spaces. The trend is beginning to swell but like all good things, it won’t last long. Below, the fresh Miami pop-ups that should be on your radar for your next meal. Time is ticking!
Red Sauce at Mignonette
Sustaining a seafood restaurant during a global health crisis is no easy feat, but the team behind Mignonette has found a way to make it work with a sharp, delicious pivot. Red Sauce is the establishment’s temporary pop-up, putting fishy things on pause in favor of belly-warming bolognese, eggplant parm and more comfort food Italian classics. While we miss Mignonette’s lobster rolls, Red Sauce offers the kind of cuisine our hearts (and stomachs) truly need right now. The Chippy at Balans Brickell
Miami may be an international city, but we lack in most things British. Bringing a taste of the UK to the MIA, the Chippy is about to change all that with its fish-and-chips pop-up, which launches at Balans Brickell on August 4. The batter-focused menu includes traditional options like cod and haddock, plus less-expected proteins such as Proper Sausage links and king crab legs—all deep-fried and served with a side of handcut chips. Chef Justin Brown is even using his tasty batter for dessert, coating Mars and Snickers bars and serving them up with whipped cream. The Chippy is available for pickup and delivery via UberEats but also offers free delivery for folks in Brickell when you order directly via the website. Prefer to call? Falafels at Zak the Baker
The Wynwood bakeshop expands beyond mouthwatering bread with a new falafel pop-up that kicked off mid-July. It’s a limited menu that’s packed with Mediterranean favorites such as falafel pitas and french fries. Plus, Zak puts its own spin on dessert with a delicious babka custard. Grab a beer and enjoy to it to stay at one of the bakery’s outdoor tables (service isn’t provided but the tables will be sanitized after each use). Or order up for delivery via UberEats. Benh Mis at 1-800-Lucky
The banh mi sandwiches you’ve been drooling over on Instagram are available all month long at Asian food hall 1-800-Lucky. Benh Mi is serving up all three staples—roasted pork, meatball and mushroom—plus a new cheesy egg option that’s perfect for a late breakfast or a hangover lunch. All sammies are made with Bettant bakery bread and stuffed with umami mayo, carrots and daikon and come with side of funky sauce.

Old Greg’s Pizza at Kaido
This year’s Time In Award winner for Favorite Lockdown Indulgence has found a temporary home in the Design District. Old Greg’s got its start slinging ‘roni pies but it’s serving much more than pizza at its pop-up—from polenta-crusted chicken wings and a creamy kale caesar to a savory take on tres leches dubbed Greg’s leches. Orders must be placed and paid for online in advance. You might struggle to find an opening but we hear new ordering slots are released every Wednesday at 1pm, so get those digits ready. Pro tip: Add a frozen negroni to your order for something refreshing to sip on while you wait.

Rosie’s at the Copper Door B&B
The Overtown bed and breakfast is focusing on the latter these days with its pop-up café Rosie’s. Head there for delightful pastries, gut-busting breakfast sandwiches and Southern classics, such as shrimp grits and chicken and waffles.

Jaguar Sun at Lot 6
The Downtown bar is basking in the fresh air of its weekend digs at Lot 6. Jaguar Sun’s temporary dining room is completely outdoors, featuring socially distanced tables and contactless service. You simply place your order on your phone, pay online and wait for someone to bring you your meal. There are tacos on the menu, Jaguar’s signature dressed oysters and a handful of Mexican-inspired dishes and drinks. On occasion, a local restaurant will pop up at the pop-up for an even more enjoyable feast. Reservations are a must.
