What’s in the Miami Design District (MDD) beyond luxury boutiques and high-end restaurants? For starters, remarkable artwork. But it’s not just the pieces hanging in the ’hood’s museums, it’s also the amazing public works on display for all to see free of charge.

Beginning September 10, the MDD gives you even greater access to its spate of arty pieces—many of which are hidden inside shops and other businesses—with the launch of free twice-monthly art tours. These hours-long guided walks through the 18-block neighborhood are led by Art Encounters’ Margery Gordon, a professional art critic and journalist with an extensive knowledge of the area’s unique design scape. She'll guide you through places such as Palm Court and explain works like the iconic site-specific Buckminster Fuller Fly’s Eye Dome, which is just one of 30 on display in the MDD.

These comprehensive tours take place at 2:30pm on the second Sunday and 6pm on the last Wednesday of the month, and depart from the Moore Building and Jungle Plaza, respectively. A full schedule is available online and walk-ups are welcome—though reservations are strongly encouraged.
