Long gone are the days when Ultra held reign over Miami’s music festival market. Today, III Points, Rolling Loud and House of Creatives all offer options for the non-ravers among us.
And now our festival scene is growing even more diverse with the addition of Miami’s first large scale music festival. It will be called Tequila Bay and you’re probably already starting to feel the hangover. The one-day fest will be taking over Miami Marine Stadium Park (3501 Rickenbacker Causeway, Key Biscayne) on September 3. Unfortunately, none of the acts will be performing in the actual Marine Stadium, as it's still in the process of being renovated, but it's nonetheless nice to see the dormant space being put to good use.
Names on the lineup include Brantley Gilbert, Kip Moore, Tyler Farr, Montgomery Gentry, Brooke Eden, RaeLynn, Shelly Fairchild and more to come. Right now, tickets are going for $55–$150.
The festival will also feature—as the name implies—a selection of different tequila tastings and there will even be an open tequila bar from 11am to 2pm, which is a sentence that is at once both fun and terrifying. The concert grounds will have a tailgate aesthetic—complete with corn hole, beer pong and no shortage of incomprehensibly drunk people who have taken advantage of the three-hour open tequila bar. Luckily, food trucks will be onsite to help sop up the alcohol.
